- Sorry... it just stuck out to me...
-
- I'd be the last to claim FW4 is /it/ for wordprocessors. Heck, it is
- 14 years since my TRS-80 Mod III with cassette based Scripsit and I'm still
- waiting for a wordprocessor that has Scripsit's vertical center!
-
- My second Amiga wordprocessor was Scribble! My first was some
- unnameable port of some MS-DOS product; you had to go through some login
- procedure just to start the program, and then it had worse editing then
- Scripsit.
-
- So far, the wp that I felt most comfortable with on the Amiga was
- excellence! -- pity it had such poor output to dot-matrix, being a raw
- "screen" dump operation. The spell-checker, thesaurus, and grammar checkers
- were well integrated into the ARexx interface. It had a decent on screen
- display (maybe because it never did attempt a 1:1 image with the printout).
-
- Now... this must be modified by the fact that I've had years of
- writing letters on excellence!, and only about 6mon with FW... I find FW has
- a lot of power -- but gets in my way for the simple letters I write. Heck --
- I don't even know if FW has keystrokes for toggling in/out of bold/italic/etc.
- Having to click buttons before typing text (or typing text, selecting it, then
- clicking a button) is a distraction to me compared to the quick mode of
- "<r-amiga><b>" to toggle bold...
-
- Yes, perhaps FW can have such a function attached to a keyboard
- sequence... but why should something that basic have to be implemented by a
- user?
-
- [On that note... I end this rambling...]
